Pacific Naturopathic Retreat Center is situated on three lovely, pastoral acres on the historic, scenic Hamakua Coast halfway between Honoka’a and Waipio Valley, about 42 miles north of Hilo. The setting is in a young tropical fruit orchard at 800 feet elevation with expansive views of the Pacific Ocean. On clear days, Maui is visible across the channel. Kissed by the trade winds, it is rarely too hot and never cold.

Directions

From Kailua-Kona: Drive north on Route 19 (towards Kawaihae). Drive 30 miles or so to the stop sign and turn right, towards Waimea. You are still on route 19. In Waimea, turn left at the first stop light. You are still on route 19, heading towards Honoka’a and Hilo. Between mile markers 44 and 43, turn left off the highway following the sign leading you into Honokaa. Come down the hill into Honokaa and turn left at the stop sign onto route 240 (Mamane Street), heading towards Waipio Valley.

Pacific Naturopathic Retreat Center is located 1/3 mile past mile marker 5 on the right hand side of the road, in a small community named Kapulena. In front, there is a white mailbox and a green newspaper box. The number on the mailbox is 47-4628. A sign with the name Ala Loa Natural Health Center indicates the parking area. Please park in designated “Visitor” spaces. Enter to the left of the carport. Please come down the concrete steps to your left and turn right at the bottom of he first flight. Come down the steps, through the gate, and into the office area.

From Hilo: Follow Route 19 up the beautiful Hamakua Coast until mile marker 42, where you will see a sign directing you to turn right into Honokaa. You are now on route 240, or Waipio Road, and the mileage markers start at zero again. Go through town.
